    The Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) provides assistance to low-income households that are having difficulties paying their electrical bill. Individuals interested to apply for this program are encouraged to call and schedule an appointment. Priority will be given to households that have elderly or disabled individuals, and children under 5 years old.


    Eligibility:

    • Proof of citizenship
    • Proof of income (for all household members)
    • Social Security Cards
    • Valid ID or Driver's License
    • Original Electrical bill or disconnection notice

    The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year. To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.

    You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.


    Mission Statement

    The mission of the Dallas County Department of Health and Human Services is to protect the health of the citizens of Dallas County through disease prevention and intervention, and through promotions of a healthy community and environment. This is done through assessment, community input education, disease monitoring, regulation, and health services that help control the spread of disease. Resources, both human and financial, are directed toward areas where improvement in public health services is needed. The department will make every effort to ensure the people of Dallas County receive information and services needed to maintain and improve their health and provide good stewardship of public resources.”*

    *Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
    These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
