About Emergency Assistance, Help Ministries

Provides emergency assistance to residents of downtown Louisville, including limited financial assistance for rent, utility bills and prescriptions; food stamps; clothing stamps; haircut stamps; and references to other community resources.
Annual financial assistance and monthly food assistance are provided.
Rental and utility assistance applications are considered by appointment only.
Food and prescription assistance is provided on a walk-in basis.
As availability of funds varies from day to day, it is recommended that individuals in need of assistance call during business hours to check for funds, but HELP Ministries are unable to respond to messages.
In addition, once a year, it helps homeless people to obtain identity cards and birth certificates.
Funds are very limited for identification assistance and are only available on the first Monday of the month for the first 10 individuals who arrive before 9:30am.
** HELP Ministries is located on the first floor of this new building, which is a grey building.

*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
