  • About Palm Beach County Community Action Program - South Bay - LIHEAP

    The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is designed to provide financial relief from high-energy costs to prevent service disconnection for families in crisis.  Extensive Outreach Campaigns are conducted to ensure maximum participation of the neediest families. Particular efforts are made to serve the elderly and those with special needs, including home visits, telephone interviews and group intakes.  Applications for assistance may be made by contacting the nearest Community Action Service Center.  For additional information or to schedule a group intake, please call 561-355-4792.

    The benefit amount will depend on total household income, household composition, and if there are any elderly, disabled or children under age 6 in the household.


    The Low-Income Home Energy Assisted Program is designed to provide financial assistance to families in crisis situations due to high energy costs in order to prevent service interruptions.
    Extensive awareness-raising campaigns are conducted to ensure maximum participation of the poorest families.
    Special efforts are made to serve the elderly and those with special needs, such as home visits, telephone interviews and group intakes.



    The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year. To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.

    You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.

    *Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
    These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
