Glades Electric Cooperative, Inc. provides limited financial assistance to low income individuals or households that are are struggling to pay their electrical bill. In order to be considered, these individuals must have exhausted all other possibilities to get funds to pay for their electrical bill. These funds are allocated by the Charitable Trust, which is made possible due to the generosity of Glades Electric Cooperative customers who contribute to the Operation Round Up Program. You need to fill out an application for funding.

Requirements:

• Provide name, address, and contact info for all household members
• Provide income, expenses, 
• Provide list of assets
• Provide list of debts
• Provide 3 personal references (3 individuals that are not on household, relatives, or working for Glades Electric)
• Additional paperwork as required by program guidelines

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year. To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.

You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Vernon Electric Operation Round Up Trust is the accumulation and disbursement of funds for charitable purposes in Vernon Electric’s service area. This shall be accomplished by disbursement of funds to individuals and organizations for food, shelter, clothing, health needs, education and community oriented projects. ”*

These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
