About Macon Russell Community Action Agency

LIHEAP is a federal-funded program that assists low-income households to pay their heating and cooling bills. Community Service Programs of Western Alabama, Inc. (CSP) is a private, non-profit community action agency created by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. CSP is dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-income and vulnerable groups in its coverage area. The Agency uses public and private funding sources to develop and implement its various programs and encourages participation in coalitions with other organizations. The agency's mission is to offer resources and services that meet the immediate needs and enable the long-term self-sufficiency of vulnerable and low-income populations. Area served: Macon, Russell Counties.

Offers support services and helps families with direct assistance or referrals to other agencies for the Low Cost Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and other benefits.




The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year. To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.

You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.

*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

    I didn't receive my January payment until April and now the same thing with my June payment and no one will answer the phone or call back they need better people working the Tuskegee Office.

    My light are out because of a past do bill that I wasn't aware of until today that you guy was supposed to pay last months but only paid half but stated you was paying 588 and now my light are off.
